Writers Talking TV: The Art of Showrunning

On June 7, 2022, we held a very special edition of Writers Talking TV all about THE ART OF SHOWRUNNING. Featuring Anthony Q. Farrell and Marsha Greene, and hosted by Richard Young, they talked first gigs, what it takes to run a writers' room, navigating tough conversations, lessons learned throughout their careers, protecting mental health, and so much more!

SPEAKERS AND HOST

ANTHONY Q. FARRELL was recently named Playback and WGC's showrunner of the Year. He has written and produced television in Canada, the US, and the UK. His credits include The Office, Overlord and the Underwoods, Secret Life of Boys, The Parker Andersons & Amelia Parker.

MARSHA GREENE is a writer and showrunner with credits that include Coroner, the limited-series drama Ten Days in the Valley for ABC, and the first season of Global’s detective drama Private Eyes. She is best known for her work on the critically acclaimed drama Mary Kills People, for which she's earned four CSA nominations, and the groundbreaking historical series The Porter for CBC and BET+. She’s been a member of the WGC since 2014, and is the vice president of the WGC Council.

RICHARD YOUNG is a South Asian (Indo-Caribbean) screenwriter/actor. Writing credits include OVERLORD AND THE UNDERWOODS (CBC/Nickelodeon), DINO RANCH (CBC/Disney+), 16 HUDSON (TVO), and MATERNAL (CBC Reflections). His one-hour sci-fi pilot EXALT was on Coverfly’s Red List and is both a ScreenCraft Sci-Fi and Fantasy Screenwriting Competition Finalist/Honorable Mention and a WGC Script Of The Month selection.
